A tragic event unfolded in Cape Coast early Wednesday morning when a one-story mud house belonging to Allotey Jacobs, former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), collapsed. The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. in Amisakyir, a fishing community, while the occupants were asleep, leaving two people trapped under the debris. Sadly, one victim, 74-year-old Ernestina Nduom, was later pronounced dead at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital after rescue efforts.

In the aftermath of this disaster, local officials are responding with immediate plans for demolitions of dangerously dilapidated structures and providing aid to the victims. The community faces a grim reality, with two collapses in quick succession, highlighting the urgent need for proper building maintenance. Continued support from the public and authorities will be critical to prevent further tragedies as assessments of nearby structures continue.
