Kazakhstan faces a severe heatwave, with temperatures soaring to +43°C in Turkistan and reaching +39°C in Zhetysu. Thunderstorms are forecasted in several regions. Residents advised to remain alert amid contrasting weather conditions.

Kazakhstan is preparing for a scorching heatwave set to impact 14 regions across the country, as reported by the Kazinform News Agency. The national meteorological service, Kazhydromet, has forecast significant temperature increases starting today, June 17.

In Zhetysu region, temperatures are predicted to climb between 35 and 39 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the Turkistan region will experience the most extreme heat, with mercury expected to soar to an astonishing 40 to 43 degrees Celsius. Such high temperatures raise concerns about heat-related illnesses and necessitate appropriate precautions for residents.

Moreover, Astana will not be spared from the heat, as the capital city anticipates air temperatures reaching around 35 degrees Celsius today. Although sweltering, these temperatures are somewhat closer to norms for summer in Kazakhstan, which often sees high readings during this season.

In contrast to the heatwave, some areas, including Zhetysu, Aktobe, Akmola, Abai, and East Kazakhstan, are likely to face thunderstorms later in the day. This volatility in weather could lead to possible thunderstorm activity, accompanied by localized heavy rainfall and hail, which is a stark reminder of the often unpredictable climate conditions in the region.

Kazhydromet previously warned of this unusual weather pattern that could pose risks, urging local residents to stay informed and prepared. As people in Kazakhstan brace for the extreme temperatures and looming storms, it highlights the necessity of being vigilant during such weather events.

To sum up, Kazakhstan is bracing for a significant heatwave that will affect 14 regions, with extreme temperatures reaching upwards of 43 degrees Celsius in some areas. While the heat poses challenges, it is accompanied by the potential for thunderstorms in various regions, reminding residents to remain vigilant. Preparation and awareness are essential as these weather patterns unfold.
