Three NDLEA officers were hospitalized following an attack during a raid in Abuja’s Jahi area. The raid, targeting an uncompleted building, resulted in significant drug recoveries. The injured officers received prompt medical attention, with NDLEA Chairman Buba Marwa expressing gratitude for the swift responses of medical staff and ensuring ongoing collaboration with security agencies.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reported that three of its officers were hospitalized due to gunshot wounds sustained during a raid in Abuja. This incident occurred in the Jahi area of the Federal Capital Territory, as the officers targeted an uncompleted building based on intelligence reports. The raid led to the recovery of significant quantities of illicit drugs, including 74 bottles of codeine and 48 grams of tramadol.

As the officers were exiting the location, they came under gunfire, resulting in one officer being shot in the rib and two others sustaining injuries to their back and leg. Following the incident, they received initial treatment at the Police Clinic in Garki Area 1 before being transferred to the National Hospital in Abuja for further care.

NDLEA Chairman, Buba Marwa, expressed appreciation to the staff at the police clinic for their prompt assistance and commended the Chief Medical Director at the National Hospital for personally overseeing the injured officers’ treatment. Marwa, while in Kano for official duties, communicated with the injured officers via phone to wish them a swift recovery.

He also assured that the NDLEA will coordinate with other security agencies to identify and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the attack.

Furthermore, the agency reiterates its ongoing commitment to combat drug trafficking and protect its personnel who undertake such critical operations.

The NDLEA’s proactive measures in drug enforcement were met with a violent attack that left three officers injured. The swift medical response ensured that the injured received necessary care, highlighting the dangers faced by those in law enforcement.
