A man identified as Mubarak, who is suspected to have mental health issues, has been apprehended by the Niger State Police Command for allegedly murdering a 25-year-old resident named Shamseen Danshehu. The incident took place during a physical altercation on Sunday evening at Kwangila, a locality in Minna, the state capital, where Mubarak reportedly stabbed Danshehu in the chest.

Following the assault, the victim was immediately taken to Minna General Hospital; unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Eyewitnesses in the area indicated that they were unaware of the conflict’s origins, although they noted Mubarak’s presence in the neighborhood, often seen rummaging through residents’ waste containers.

Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police, confirmed Danshehu’s death and the arrest of Mubarak. “It was reported that one Mubarak, who is suspected of insanity and also scavenging around Kwangila, had a fight with a passerby, Shamsu Danshehu 25 years of the same area,” Abiodun stated. He further detailed that during the scuffle, Mubarak utilized scissors to stab Danshehu, leading to the victim’s tragic demise. The authorities indicated that Mubarak is in custody as they continue their investigation into the incident.
