The Department of Energy-Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) previously forecasted these increases, attributing them to heightened tensions in the Middle East, increased fuel consumption following Beijing’s fiscal stimulus measures, and a reduction in U.S. fuel inventories.
