Effective Water Exercises for Safe Weight Loss and Fat Burning

A collaborative study involving researchers from universities in Korea and China, monitored nearly 300 participants aged 20 to 70. The findings suggested that underwater exercises were especially beneficial for women over the age of 45.
The comprehensive study evaluated data from 10 clinical trials across various countries, including Malaysia, Brazil, India, the United States, and the Netherlands, focusing on the effects of water exercises on weight loss. Participants, identified as overweight or obese, engaged in a water fitness program lasting between six to twelve weeks, which consisted of 2-3 sessions per week of water-based activities.
Results indicated that participants experienced an average weight loss of 2 kg within 10 weeks; those who maintained the water exercises for 10 weeks or more lost an average of 3 kg. Dr. Jongchul Park, a researcher at Pukyong University in Korea, noted the necessity for further research to ascertain if underwater exercises might prove more effective than those performed on land. A prior study from Poland in 2017 also highlighted that overweight women could lose an average of 3.4 kg after six months of underwater exercise participation.
