Uzbekistan has become the key production hub for the Chevrolet Tracker in Eurasia, following the closure of production in China due to declining demand. The Tracker now boasts a 50% localization level in Uzbekistan and is also assembled in Brazil and Argentina.

Uzbekistan has officially become the primary production center for the Chevrolet Tracker crossover in the Eurasian region. This shift in production signifies a strategic move after the cessation of Tracker manufacturing in China, where domestic demand has significantly declined. Previously, the Tracker was produced at the SAIC-GM Norsom plant in China, which has since been closed as the company refocuses its efforts on other market segments.

Approximately one month prior, General Motors announced the closure of its plant located in Shenyang, in northeastern China, which was responsible for the manufacturing of Buick GL8 minivans and Chevrolet Tracker crossovers for the Chinese market. With this transition, Uzbekistan now stands out as a crucial player in the production of the Tracker, achieving a localization level of 50%. Additionally, the Tracker is also assembled in Latin America at production facilities in Brazil and Argentina.

In summary, Uzbekistan’s emergence as the main production hub for the Chevrolet Tracker follows the closure of the vehicle’s manufacturing in China due to decreased demand. This development highlights the increasing importance of Uzbekistan in the automotive sector, with significant localization efforts and assembly operations extending beyond Eurasia to Latin America. The strategic adjustments by General Motors reflect the shifting dynamics of global automotive production.
