Osman Bukari discussed his viral “Siuu” celebration from the 2022 World Cup, which has made him popular in Ghana. While some fans critiqued the celebration for slowing the game, he shared that many recognize him primarily for this moment. The Black Stars struggled in the tournament, finishing with only one win after three matches.

Osman Bukari, a forward for the Black Stars, recently spoke about his notable “Siuu” celebration performed during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. This celebration occurred when the Black Stars were behind 3-1 against Portugal and he managed to score a goal, bringing the team’s tally to 3-2.

Although his goal showcased his skill, many fans expressed dissatisfaction with the celebration. They felt he should have quickly retrieved the ball to facilitate a faster restart, possibly aiding Ghana in securing an equalizer.

In an interview with KVUE News, Bukari articulated that in Ghana, his persona is predominantly defined by the Ronaldo-inspired celebration rather than his broader contributions to football. He noted, “In Ghana, a lot of people know me because of that celebration. If I go to Ghana and my name is mentioned, people ask, ‘Who is Bukari?’ and the response is, ‘He’s the one who did the Ronaldo celebration.’”

Despite the optimistic moment against Portugal, the Black Stars later achieved victory over South Korea by winning 3-2, highlighted by two goals from Mohammed Kudus and one from Mohammed Salisu. However, Ghana faced disappointment in the World Cup, concluding with only one win in three matches after losing to Uruguay 2-0, resulting in their exit from the tournament.

Osman Bukari’s celebration during the 2022 World Cup earned him significant recognition in Ghana, overshadowing his overall football achievements. Despite criticism for not focusing on the game, his celebration remains a defining aspect of his identity. Ultimately, the Black Stars faced a challenging World Cup with limited success, highlighting the highs and lows of the tournament experience.
