Asus Captures Nearly 40% Market Share in Egypt’s Laptop Industry

Asus holds nearly 40% of Egypt’s laptop market, driven by a rise in online gaming. The Republic of Gamers Strix SCAR series is popular for its high performance. Young consumers prefer multifunctional laptops, with Asus gaming sales exceeding 50% recently. The market shows potential for Taiwanese brands, which must innovate to stay competitive.

According to a report by CNA on March 12, 2025, Asus laptops command nearly 40% of Egypt’s laptop market share. Data from the German market research firm GfK revealed that annual laptop sales in Egypt have reached approximately 500,000 units, with Asus leading, followed closely by Lenovo and HP.

Asus’s product manager for Egypt, Kung Huan-tse, noted a rise in the number of online gamers in the country during the pandemic. The Republic of Gamers Strix SCAR series laptops, specifically designed for gamers, have gained considerable popularity among Egyptian consumers due to their high-end graphics and processors.

Kung indicated that this year’s SCAR series laptops will introduce enhanced cooling systems and a tool-free design for easier component replacement, positioning them as some of the most premium offerings available in Egypt. He also mentioned that the typical computer replacement cycle lasts four to five years, and these new models are poised to capitalize on a potential post-pandemic upgrade wave.

Young Egyptian consumers are increasingly inclined towards laptops that effectively blend productivity with gaming capabilities. Kung reported a substantial increase in sales of these gaming laptops, which have constituted over 50% of Asus’s total laptop sales in Egypt since the latter half of last year.

Scully Wang from the Taiwan External Trade Development Council remarked that Taiwanese brands experience monthly laptop sales in the Middle East that are over ten times greater than in Egypt. He stressed the necessity for Taiwanese brands to release higher-specification models to compete successfully in this growing market.

Micro-Star International Company highlighted Egypt’s potential as a promising market, especially given its large youthful demographic. The company has bolstered its investment there by expanding its workforce for marketing and establishing inspection and repair services for laptops.

Asus CEO Samson Hu projected a 30% increase in the company’s global personal computer revenue in the upcoming second quarter. He anticipates a surge in demand for device upgrades as new personal computers featuring AI capabilities become available and Windows 10 reaches its end-of-support in October.

The dominance of Asus laptops in Egypt’s emerging market is indicative of changing consumer preferences, particularly among young gamers. As the demand for high-performance devices grows, companies must adapt their offerings to remain competitive. With strategic investments and innovative product designs, brands like Asus are well-positioned to capitalize on this trend.
