After alerting Zhian, it is alleged that he armed himself and discharged a firearm, resulting in Gumbo sustaining a gunshot wound to his forehead.
Gumbo was transported to Gwanda Provincial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Zhian has since appeared in court and remains in custody with the next hearing scheduled for March 21, as the investigation into the incident continues.
