On March 4, 2025, a tragic tanker explosion in Karamin Rami village, Mashegu Local Government Area, resulted in the deaths of seven individuals and left one person injured. The incident took place around 6:30 p.m., as reported by Ibrahim Hussaini, the Public Relations Officer of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA).

The explosion occurred when a tanker truck, transporting Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), lost control on a poorly maintained road. The resultant fuel spillage ignited a fire, which quickly spread back to the tanker, leading to the catastrophic explosion.

Hussaini lamented the destruction caused by the inferno, stating, “The inferno engulfed the farmland, destroying the entire rice field, including fruits and vegetation.” As per the latest reports, the following individuals have been confirmed deceased:
– Rafiatu Sahabi
– Ramlat Shehu
– Rashida Abdullahi Raliya
– Abdulrahaman
– Zainab Ahmed
– Zuwaira Idrisu
– Maryam A. Nura

Furthermore, Maimuna Isah, a farmer present during the incident, suffered injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment at Saho Rami Primary Health Care.
