Investigation Continues in Murder of Scottish Businessman Campbell Scott in Kenya
Kenyan police are searching for three suspects linked to the murder of Scottish businessman Campbell Scott, whose body was discovered in a forest. In a troubling case, the Kenyan police have identified three individuals wanted in connection with the murder of Campbell Scott, a 58-year-old Scottish businessman. His body was discovered wrapped in a sack of pineapples in a forest located approximately 60 miles from Nairobi. The suspects have been identified as Benard Mbunga Mbusu, Samuel Musembi Kamitu, and Alphonse Munyao Kilewa, who is referred to as “Edu.”
Campbell Scott, originally from Dunfermline, Fife, was a senior director at the credit scoring company Fico. He was reported missing on February 16 after he failed to meet colleagues following a nightclub visit in Nairobi. Authorities later recovered his remains with his hands bound in Makongo Forest. Multiple arrests have been made in relation to this case, including two individuals who were allegedly among the last to see him alive.
Initial apprehensions included a taxi driver and a nightclub waiter, followed by the arrest of two other suspects in Mombasa, which is 301 miles from Nairobi. Investigators suspect Mr. Scott visited a residence belonging to one of these individuals, where the murder occurred. They also assert that one of the suspects withdrew money from Mr. Scott’s credit accounts at various locations, with the assistance of another suspect.
The Nairobi court has authorized the detention of the arrested suspects for 21 days to facilitate the ongoing investigation. A post-mortem examination yielded inconclusive results; however, pathologists noted that the injuries sustained were not severe enough to account for his death, and further toxicology tests are expected. To aid in the investigation, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations has sought assistance from Interpol regarding Mr. Scott’s mobile and financial transaction records.
