This significant recovery was confirmed in a statement made by the police spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, who provided details about the case during a briefing in Minna. According to the spokesperson, the truck was en route from Okpella in Edo State to a customer in Gwagwalada, Abuja, at the time it went missing, highlighting the theft’s impact on the logistics of cement delivery.

The incident occurred on June 21, when the truck’s driver stopped by the roadside to find the customer, leaving the vehicle unattended. At approximately 8:00 a.m., the driver ventured into a nearby restaurant for a meal, but when he returned, the truck had vanished without a trace. The driver quickly informed his manager, prompting a swift tracking of the vehicle that pinpointed its location in the Lambata region of Niger State. Following the successful recovery, three suspects identified as Bashir Isah (22), Ibrahim Yusuf (21), and Halidu Mohammed (28) were apprehended. All three hail from the Gbamita area of Lambata, and during police interrogation, they confessed to their involvement in the crime. The spokesperson further indicated that the suspects had planned to sell the stolen cement to another buyer, revealing a concerning element of organized criminal behavior in the region. The police have launched a full investigation into this matter to uncover any further details or accomplices linked to the crime, underscoring their commitment to maintaining public safety.
