In a surprising yet exciting development in the world of motocross, Chad Reed, the renowned Australian rider, has joined ClubMX as a consultant. This role marks a significant turn in Reed’s long-spanning career, during which he has cemented himself as one of motocross’ all-time greats. Known for his impressive history, Reed’s legacy includes multiple championships across different formats and brands, most notably achieving unparalleled success with Yamaha, where he remains their top-winning rider.
Since relocating to the United States in 2002, Reed’s accomplishments have birthed an extensive resume including prestigious titles such as the Australian Junior Motocross Champion in 1997 and the 2008 AMA/FIM World Supercross Champion. From his achievements at the Motocross of Nations to a record fifth place in career wins, Reed has consistently demonstrated what it takes to succeed at the highest levels of the sport.
Recently, in April, Reed and his family had the opportunity to experience the Yamaha BLU CRU camp hosted at ClubMX. There, he noted the facility garnered much interest throughout the years. His initial visit led to deeper conversations about a more sustained role at ClubMX, where he stated, “I thought it would be a good idea to check it out… Yamaha has been like a big family to me in my career, so having a chance to give back a bit seemed like a good idea.”
Chad Reed’s family — including his wife, Ellie, and their three children — also participated in the visit, enjoying the amenities at ClubMX. Following their time at the facility, they went on to a qualifier event at Loretta Lynn’s, quickly expressing their desire to return to ClubMX. “It felt like home,” Reed’s children stated. Their enthusiasm for the facility evidently caught the attention of Brandon Haas, the owner of ClubMX.
Haas recounted how Reed expressed interest in a potential long-term role, saying, “Chad asked me what it would look like if he stuck around… it was mutually in our best interest to make it work.” This discussion opened the door for Reed to begin a consultant position at ClubMX, where his vast expertise in various aspects of motocross will be invaluable.
Reed’s new role includes offering insights into racing techniques and coaching athletes, serving as a bridge between pro riders and the ClubMX staff. Yet, amid this new venture, Reed remains committed to his family, focusing on their involvement and experiences in amateur motocross. Acknowledging his responsibilities both on and off the track, Reed is poised to balance his passion for racing with family life as they embark on this journey at ClubMX.
