Several gas turbogenerators are utilized for powering critical equipment on the platforms, but some of these operate outside their ideal performance parameters.
The team is actively implementing energy efficiency strategies, which include integrating LED lighting and enhancing air filters on turbines to decrease energy usage from turbogenerator systems. Additionally, there’s a focus on maximizing the reliability of these turbogenerators, identifying potential failures early, and optimizing their operation. Updating load shedding procedures on both power generation sites is another critical initiative. Furthermore, TotalEnergies is exploring the deployment of AI-assisted dynamic load shedding, aiming for improved efficiency across operations. Positive results from this implementation were noted last year, with reported reductions in CO2 emissions by 29,000 metric tons. The company anticipates an increase in reduction potential, estimating up to 51,000 metric tons could be mitigated over the coming year. Key financial advantages are also expected, with a prediction of maintenance cost savings around $13 million in the next two decades.
