The Nigeria Police Force successfully extradited Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, alias “Killaboi,” from Qatar for the murder of a female undergraduate, Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe. The extradition followed extensive international collaboration and outcome of an INTERPOL Red Notice issued after Nnayereugo fled justice. Inspector-General of Police commended the collective efforts in ensuring accountability and justice.

The Nigeria Police Force announced the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, also known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar. This action follows his alleged involvement in the murder of Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, a 21-year-old undergraduate from Lead City University. Nnayereugo was returned to Nigeria in the early hours of April 19, 2025, after being on the run since the crime, which occurred on July 13, 2023.

The fugitive had traveled through six different countries before being located in Qatar, assisted by legal representatives from Femi Falana’s chambers. The police confirmed that this successful extradition resulted from coordinated efforts between the Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau, and Qatari judicial authorities.

According to reports, the investigators uncovered that Nnayereugo fled Nigeria after the murder and released a deceptive online video claiming responsibility. Following his declaration as wanted by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department on October 13, 2023, an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued to apprehend him globally.

Initially detained in Freetown, Sierra Leone, under an alias, he escaped custody shortly after. Further intelligence efforts revealed Nnayereugo’s continued evasion of law enforcement until he was located in Doha, where he was using a false identity. Utilizing advanced biometry, INTERPOL confirmed his identity, leading to his arrest in February 2025 and subsequent extradition.

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun praised the collaborative efforts of INTERPOL and other international entities for successfully facilitating the extradition. He expressed gratitude towards the Nigerian Attorney-General, the government of Qatar, and others involved, assuring the public of the commitment to ensuring thorough legal proceedings against the suspect.

The extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo illustrates the efficacy of international cooperation in law enforcement. The collective efforts of Nigerian and Qatari authorities, along with INTERPOL’s involvement, culminated in the timely apprehension and return of the fugitive, emphasizing the global commitment to justice. The Nigeria Police Force remains dedicated to providing justice for victims and upholding public safety.
