Extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo: A Landmark Case for Nigerian Justice

Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, known as “Killaboi,” has been extradited from Qatar to Nigeria to face murder charges for the death of Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe. His apprehension followed a collaborative investigation led by INTERPOL and the NPF. Nnayereugo attempted to evade justice using multiple aliases across different regions before being captured.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has successfully extradited Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, also known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar, where he faced murder charges. According to Police spokesman ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Nnayereugo was apprehended after being on the run for the murder of Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe and was returned to Nigeria early Saturday.
Adejobi indicated that the extradition was a result of collaborative efforts involving the Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Force Headquarters in Abuja, and Qatari Judicial Authorities. This process was initiated following a legal petition submitted by the family of the deceased on September 29, 2024.
Investigations led by INTERPOL revealed that Nnayereugo had murdered Miss Onuwabhagbe, a first-class student at Lead City University in Ibadan, at his residence in Lagos on July 13, 2023. Following the crime, he fled Nigeria and attempted to mislead investigators by releasing an online video falsely confessing to the act.
In conclusion, the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo back to Nigeria highlights the effectiveness of international cooperation in law enforcement. His return to face justice serves as a reminder of the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to prosecute offenders and uphold the rule of law. The coordinated efforts between various agencies reinforce the importance of collaboration in combating trans-border crime.
