Tragically, a stray bullet claimed the life of 12-year-old Adnan Bulana in Soje, a suburb of Minna, Niger State. This incident occurred when a vigilante group attempted to apprehend suspected troublemakers, who instead attacked the group, leading to the firing of gunshots. During this chaos, young Bulana was accidentally struck by a stray bullet.
The police public relations officer, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident, stating that the unidentified vigilante group had invaded the community. He noted that during the arrest attempt, the chaos erupted, resulting in Bulana’s tragic death after he was struck by a stray bullet. Following the incident, local youths retaliated by attacking the vigilante office at Kpakungu.
Police patrol teams were promptly dispatched to the area to restore order. Though Bulana was rushed to the General Hospital in Minna, he was unfortunately declared dead. An investigation has commenced to identify those responsible for this incident. In a separate matter, a confrontation occurred among youths in Angwan-Roka, leading to an injury in which one Safaryu Musa was stabbed and is currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby clinic.
