In a tragic incident at AlUla, a renowned tourist destination in Saudi Arabia, five individuals, including two Malayali nurses, lost their lives in a vehicular collision. The victims, Akhil Alex and Teena, both from Wayanad, were returning from a visit to AlUla when the accident occurred approximately 150 kilometers away. Initial reports indicate that three of the deceased were Saudi nationals.
The accident was a result of their vehicle colliding with an oncoming Land Cruiser that was transporting Saudi citizens. This collision resulted in both vehicles igniting, leading to significant loss of life, with the bodies reportedly charred beyond recognition.
Teena, employed as a nurse at the Cardiac Center in Madina, had intended to return home shortly before this unforeseen tragedy transpired. Akhil, her fiancé, had traveled from London to Saudi Arabia with plans for their return to India for their upcoming wedding. At present, the remains of the victims are housed at Muhsin Hospital in AlUla.
