Tata.ev has officially launched its electric vehicle lineup in Mauritius, marking a significant milestone as the region becomes the first outside the SAARC area to receive these offerings. Collaborating with Allied Motors, Tata introduces the Tiago EV, Punch EV, and Nexon EV, following previously established markets in Sri Lanka. This expansion reflects Tata’s commitment to promoting electric mobility.
The Tata Punch EV is available in three variants: Smart, Adventure, and Empowered, with sub-variants. It features two battery options of 25 kWh and 35 kWh, providing ranges of 265 km and 365 km, respectively. Additionally, it has achieved a 5-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests, underscoring its commitment to safety and quality.
The Nexon EV is now equipped with a 45 kWh battery after retiring the 40 kWh version, offering an efficient recharge to 80 percent within an hour, with a range of 350-375 km. Meanwhile, the Tiago EV, recently updated, offers a compact hatchback design with a 24 kWh battery that allows for a range between 190-210 km, catering to diverse consumer needs.
Consumers can benefit from generous warranties, including 8 years or 160,000 km for the battery and motor, and 7 years or 150,000 km for the vehicle itself. Moreover, a complimentary 7.2 kW home charging wall box is provided, enhancing customer convenience and encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles.
Yash Khandelwal, Head International Business of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., expressed enthusiasm for entering the Mauritian market, highlighting the nation’s commitment to sustainable mobility. “We are thrilled to introduce our electric vehicle portfolio in Mauritius, marking our first international expansion beyond the SAARC region. With the government’s strong commitment to sustainable mobility, Mauritius holds strategic importance in our EV journey,” he remarked. He further emphasized Tata’s readiness to facilitate the transition to electric mobility through a diversified range of EVs suited to the local market.
The introduction of Tata’s electric vehicles in Mauritius represents a significant step toward sustainable transportation in the region. With a variety of models catering to local preferences, extensive warranties, and a focus on safety, Tata is poised to influence the automotive landscape positively. The thoughtful partnership with Allied Motors further strengthens this initiative, aligning with the government’s sustainability goals.
