Arokodare Damil Ebenezer, 43, was arrested in Lekki for drug trafficking, specifically the importation of 60 parcels of cannabis from the U.S. The NDLEA seized a total of 32.24 kg of drugs from him. Multiple operations across Nigeria led to additional arrests and drug discoveries, indicating a vigorous fight against narcotics trade.

Arokodare Damil Ebenezer, a 43-year-old restaurant owner from Lekki, Lagos, has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for allegedly importing narcotics into Nigeria. He was taken into custody on March 24, 2025, as he awaited the delivery of 60 parcels of Loud, a potent cannabis strain from the United States, at Bay Lounge in Lekki.

The arrest followed the interception of a cargo shipment containing large cartons seized by NDLEA operatives at a logistics company in Lagos on March 12. According to NDLEA’s Director of Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, a subsequent search of Ebenezer’s home resulted in the recovery of 94 grams of the same psychoactive substance and other drug-related paraphernalia, bringing the total weight of seized drugs to 32.24 kilograms.

Ebenezer reportedly acknowledged the commencement of his illegal drug operations in 2017. Moreover, another suspect, Omoruyi Terry, was arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport attempting to export 1,400 pills of tramadol to Italy. His frequent travel and background as a logistics agent were noted by the NDLEA.

In a related operation in Katsina, four individuals were apprehended during a raid in Godai village, where they were found with 684 blocks of skunk, amounting to 423 kilograms, and 86,000 pills of diazepam. Three male suspects were caught repackaging diazepam tablets, while one female suspect was arrested after the discovery of skunk in her home.

The NDLEA also destroyed over 13,198 kilograms of cannabis sativa in Edo State during operations that occurred from March 24 to March 28. Various cannabis plantations were dismantled across multiple local government areas, contributing to the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking.

Additional seizures included a vehicle interception in Niger State, where two suspects were apprehended with 179 blocks of compressed skunk weighing 77.6 kilograms, as well as other drug recoveries throughout Enugu and Kwara States. One suspect was apprehended in Ibadan with notable quantities of Ghanaian Loud and Colorado.

The recent arrests underscore the efforts of the NDLEA in combating drug trafficking in Nigeria. Arokodare Damil Ebenezer’s case exemplifies the agency’s proactive approach to dismantling drug operations, as evidenced by multiple narcotics seizures across various states. The ongoing surveillance and operations reflect a commitment to reducing drug-related offenses in the country.
