An Indian-origin CEO has reported a concerning incident near his hotel in San Francisco, where he claims to have been chased and shot at on two occasions. In a post on X, Deeptanshu ‘Deep’ Prasad revealed that he experienced this aggressive encounter while returning from a party, stating that he had never faced such a situation in three decades.

Prasad detailed that the attack occurred around 3:30 to 4:00 AM when he was approaching his hotel after the celebration. Allegedly, the assailants fired at him as he walked, leading him to seek refuge inside the hotel, where a second round of gunfire ensued after he stepped outside with a hotel staff member.

Both Prasad and the hotel staff claimed they identified the sound of a gun being discharged, with staff witnessing the weapon during the incident. He expressed frustration that the San Francisco Police Department misclassified this serious attack as merely “use of fireworks,” implying a lack of adequate investigation and concern for public safety.

Regrettably reflecting on his decision-making, Prasad stated that he should have taken an Uber instead of walking back. He stressed the gravity of the situation, asserting, “It is my opinion that @SFPD wrongly misclassified this as a use of fireworks case with zero investigation and it is dangerous to treat cases like this with such callousness. The city is dangerous.”

Prasad further indicated skepticism about the police’s classification, suggesting that the assailants might have used firecrackers in a harmful manner and calling for a thorough investigation. He noted, “I trust myself and hotel staff,” while remaining open to other theories regarding the nature of the attack.

In subsequent messages, Prasad announced he would avoid San Francisco after midnight moving forward and expressed regret for not taking an Uber after the party, stating his intention to prioritize safety in the future. He concluded his statements by reassuring that he was unharmed and recovering well after the episode.

The incident involving Indian-origin CEO Deeptanshu Prasad highlights significant safety concerns for individuals in urban environments, particularly during late hours. His claims of being shot at, coupled with dissatisfaction with the police’s response, underscore a pressing need for more serious attention to violent crime and thorough investigations. Prasad’s experience serves as a reminder to prioritize personal safety in unfamiliar areas.
