Irene Nakasiita, spokesperson for the Uganda Red Cross Society, noted, “Our response team was called to support the community. Many houses are flooded, and household property has been destroyed.” In addition, Michael Kananura from the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety advised motorists to exercise caution and avoid driving through flooded areas due to the risk of losing control of vehicles.
Kananura further stated, “It is better to delay your journey or postpone it altogether than to risk your life. Let us prioritize safety and wait for the water to recede.” The Uganda Meteorological Services have issued warnings regarding anticipated heavy rainfall throughout the region, which pose risks of further flooding, landslides, and other hazards.
