Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, confirmed that the suspects were killed during the incident, which was part of a collaborative security effort to protect the region.
“The joint security forces successfully thwarted an attempt by miscreants to vandalize a pipeline, leading to the death of the vandals who sought to detonate it,” Adepoju stated. This incident took place at Allu-Rumuekpe in the Ikwerre Local Government Area on March 16, due to the prompt action of security personnel.
On March 19, Adepoju further revealed that security forces proceeded to stop another possible bombing attack in Onelga LGA, resulting in the arrest of two suspects found with four dynamites. The police also neutralized explosive components during this operation, including Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
