The Liberia National Police (LNP) has suspended two officers following an investigation into their unlawful entry of a vehicle belonging to Montserado County District 10 Representative, Yekeh Y. Kolubah. The incident occurred on February 18, 2025, when the officers accessed a gray-colored Nissan Jeep parked at the Capitol Building without proper authorization. Chief Inspector Frank P. Banda has received a two-month suspension without pay, while Sergeant Sam C.F. Karbah faces a one-month suspension for unlawfully opening the vehicle.
The Professional Standards Division (PSD) of the LNP conducted the investigation after Representative Kolubah reported a theft involving missing cash and valuable items totaling over US$27,500. The report included US$25,000 and 2,000,000 Liberian Dollars, as well as electronic devices and jewelry. The LNP emphasized that any further connection between the officers and the alleged crime would lead to referral for further investigation by the Crimes Services Division.
Additionally, the police have summoned Jack Traore, the individual responsible for drilling the vehicle’s driver side for questioning. The LNP reassured that it is committed to transparency and accountability, urging the public to remain patient as it addresses these serious allegations with diligence.
