President Zelenskyy announced that talks between Ukrainian and U.S. officials in Saudi Arabia were constructive. He called for international pressure on Russia to cease attacks and highlighted the need for a true ceasefire. Upcoming negotiations are set to address both the ceasefire and naval truce in the Black Sea, with significant U.S. participation.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed that the meeting between Ukrainian and American representatives held in Saudi Arabia was productive. In his evening address, following discussions with Defence Minister Rustem Umierov, he emphasized that this marks the second meeting at a technical level, which includes military personnel, diplomats, and Ministry of Energy representatives.

Zelenskyy remarked, “Our team is working absolutely constructively; the conversation is quite useful. The work of the delegations continues.” He urged the international community to escalate pressure on Russia to halt its aggressive actions against Ukraine, noting that Russia persists in its attacks despite proposals for an unconditional ceasefire since March 11.

The President underscored the necessity of compelling Vladimir Putin to issue a real order to cease hostilities, stating, “The one who brought this war must take it away.” Additionally, preparations for negotiations regarding a proposed 30-day ceasefire were set to transpire in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

U.S. Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff did not confirm Ukraine’s involvement in the discussions, but he mentioned that the U.S. delegation would be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Volz. The White House also indicated that peace talks would begin with technical discussions regarding a naval truce in the Black Sea, with negotiations on this matter anticipated in the Middle East soon.

In summary, the constructive dialogue between Ukraine and the U.S. in Saudi Arabia highlights ongoing peace efforts amidst Russian aggression. President Zelenskyy calls for increased international pressure on Russia, stressing the need for a ceasefire and urging Kremlin accountability for the war. The upcoming negotiations signify a significant step towards finding a resolution in the region.
