Two individuals, Robert Cudjoe and Isaac Aidoo, have been sentenced to three months in prison with hard labor for conspiracy and theft involving faulty car parts valued at GH¢17,500. The Tarkwa District Court One presided over by Mr. Charles Owusu Nsiah found them guilty after a prosecution led by Police Sergeant Enoch Assan-Donkoh. The incident occurred at Bogoso junction, where the men planned to steal auto parts stored by Christopher Dorglo, an auto mechanic residing in Booboobo.
On October 25, 2024, from midnight to 1:00 AM, Cudjoe, Aidoo, and their accomplice Emma, who remains at large, executed their theft. They made off with various vehicle parts, including gearboxes from several car models, and additional items such as a defective battery and car tanks. The items were hidden behind a building along a nearby road.
Around 8:30 AM, Aidoo hired a tricycle operator, Paul Balungo, to transport the stolen goods. When they were almost set to leave, a bystander, Eric Wilson, encountered them and questioned the origin of the items. Wilson subsequently returned with others, prompting Aidoo and Emma to flee. However, Cudjoe and Balungo were apprehended and later handed over to law enforcement.
The complainant noticed the theft shortly thereafter and recognized his stolen gearboxes. Aidoo was arrested and confessed to the crime, implicating Cudjoe and Emma. Authorities are actively seeking Emma to bring him to justice. Following the investigations, formal charges were brought against Cudjoe and Aidoo.
In summary, the Tarkwa District Court has sentenced Robert Cudjoe and Isaac Aidoo to three months in prison for stealing car parts. Their collaborative theft occurred under the cover of night, leading to their apprehension thanks to the vigilance of a bystander. Efforts are ongoing to capture their accomplice, Emma, to ensure all involved face justice.
