Revolt Motors Expands into Nepal Market for Electric Motorcycles

Revolt Motors will begin exporting electric motorcycles to Nepal after its entry into Sri Lanka last year. The company plans to extend its reach to markets in Africa, South-East Asia, and West Asia, along with establishing assembly plants in Mexico. With a full lineup of electric motorcycles and a strategic partnership in Nepal, Revolt aims to meet the demand for sustainable mobility in the region.
Revolt Motors, following its entry into Sri Lanka last year, is poised to commence exports of its electric motorcycles to Nepal. A company official revealed intentions to extend exports to three additional countries in Africa, South-East Asia, and West Asia within the next financial year, along with plans for later exports to Mexico and establishing assembly plants in regions such as Africa and Mexico.
Anjali Rattan, Chairperson of RattanIndia Enterprises, indicated that Nepal experienced a sale of approximately 1.7 lakh two-wheelers in 2024, with electric vehicle market penetration currently below 4 percent. Scooters represent 37 percent of total sales, with Indian original equipment manufacturers holding nearly 45 percent of the scooter market, illustrating a strong preference for Indian-produced vehicles in Nepal.
Revolt will export a full product lineup, including the RV400, RV400 BRZ, RV1, RV1+, and RV BlazeX, with robust after-sales service support. The company has partnered with the MV Dugar Group and plans to launch its flagship Revolt Hub in Kathmandu in April, aiming to open 15 showrooms in major cities within three to four months.
Rattan noted, “Nepal is a key strategic market, given its strong push for clean energy and growing demand for sustainable mobility.” The challenging terrain of Nepal, where motorcycles are a preferred transport option, presents an opportunity for Revolt’s efficient electric motorcycles. The company anticipates an annual volume of 500 units in Nepal, commencing with the first shipment this week.
Regarding production, Rattan mentioned that the existing facility in Manesar, Haryana, has a capacity of 1.80 lakh units annually, which suffices for the current production of around 35,000 units per year. In the domestic market, Revolt sold 760 motorcycles in February, marking a significant 58 percent increase compared to 480 units sold in the same month last year. Rattan also indicated potential for new facilities in Tamil Nadu or Karnataka within 18 months.
In addition to Revolt, several other electric two-wheeler manufacturers such as Ather, Hero MotoCorp, TVS Motor, and Ultraviolet are also exporting to neighboring countries.
In summary, Revolt Motors is expanding its export activities to Nepal and aims for significant growth in the electric motorcycle market across various regions. By partnering with local businesses and establishing a presence in key cities, it seeks to capture the growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions. The company’s strategic planning includes potential future manufacturing facilities, enhancing its production capabilities to support its expansion.
