According to a press release, this election, held every five years, allows American Jews to influence Israel’s future and support global Jewish communities and Zionism.

From March 3 to 10, 2025, a total of 53,213 votes were cast, representing a remarkable 122% increase from the 23,938 votes cast during the same timeframe in 2020. The election will see 152 delegates elected from the US, constituting about one-third of the total Congress. These delegates will collaborate with representatives from around the globe to determine the leadership and priorities of key organizations, including the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency for Israel. Their decisions will influence the allocation of over $1 billion annually to support Israeli initiatives and Jewish communities worldwide.

Herbert Block, the executive director of the American Zionist Movement (AZM), expressed satisfaction with the unprecedented voter engagement, remarking, “We are gratified to see the unprecedented voter participation in the election’s first week and anticipate that this pattern will continue throughout the voting period.” American Jews are demonstrating their support for Zionism and acknowledging the growing stakes for both the Jewish and Israeli futures.

In this election, a record 22 groups of varied political perspectives and religious affiliations are contesting, marking a 57% increase from the 14 groups that won seats in 2020. Additionally, over 2,900 candidates from 43 US states and territories are participating, reflecting an increase of more than 60% compared to the last election. Following this election, the 39th World Zionist Congress is scheduled to be held in Jerusalem from October 28 to 30, 2025.

In summary, voter participation in the US for the 2025 World Zionist Congress election has seen unprecedented growth, doubling within the first week of voting compared to 2020.
