Restructuring of Ghana Police Service Leadership Announced by IGP Yohuno

Inspector General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, announced significant changes within the police hierarchy on March 19, 2024. The restructuring includes new leaders for various departments aimed at improving operational efficiency within the Ghana Police Service.

On March 19, 2024, Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, announced significant changes to the police hierarchy. These adjustments aim to enhance the management and operational control of the Ghana Police Service, as evidenced in a press release from ACP Grace Akrofi-Ansah of the Police Public Affairs Directorate.

Among the key appointments, COP Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah has been appointed as the Director General of Research and Planning. Additionally, DCOP Ms. Lydia Yaako Donkor has been designated as the new Director General for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), with DCOP Frank Abrokwa serving as her deputy.

Other appointments include COP Paul Manly Awini overseeing the Service Workshop, while COP Daniel Kwame Afriyie takes on the role of Director General for the Private Security Organization. Furthermore, COP Dr. Ernest Kwabena Owusu has been appointed as Director General of Services, and COP Mohammed Fuseini Suraji will serve as the Director General of the National Patrols Department (NAPD).

COP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba will lead the Technical Department, whereas COP Mr. Michael Nketia Frempong will manage Finance. The new Director General for the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) is COP Mr. Asumadu Okyere Darko, and COP Iddi Lansah Seidu has been appointed the Director General for Welfare.

Additional appointments include COP Mrs. Faustina A.K. Andoh-Kwofie as Commandant of the Ghana Police Command and Staff College, and COP Joseph Okla Gyamera as the Director General for Legal and Prosecutions. DCOP Dr. David Agyeman Adjem will serve as the Director General for Administration while DCOP Mr. Vance Gariba assumes the role of Director General for Operations.

The reshuffle also includes regional commanders such as DCOP Mr. Duut Tuaruka for Greater Accra and DCOP Francis Kwame Tsidi for Western North. Additional appointments include DCOP Abraham Acquaye for Central North and ACP Mr. Wisdom Akorli as Volta Regional Police Commander.
