Daniel Owusu Koranteng Remanded in Ahmed Suale Murder Case

Daniel Owusu Koranteng, a former colleague of slain journalist Ahmed Suale, has been charged with his murder and remanded by the Madina District Court. Evidence links Koranteng to the crime, and he is scheduled to reappear in court on April 1, 2025. The case continues with ongoing police investigations.

On March 19, 2023, Daniel Owusu Koranteng, a friend and former colleague of the late journalist Ahmed Suale, was remanded by the Madina District Court on murder charges. Koranteng, a 35-year-old businessman also known as Nana or Amakye, is accused of causing the unlawful death of Suale on January 16, 2019. His plea has been preserved despite legal representation, as he is scheduled to reappear in court on April 1, 2025.

The prosecution indicated that Koranteng was the managing director of ISPY Company and had multiple interactions with Suale and his family prior to the latter’s untimely demise. Tensions rose in June 2018 when Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, owner of Net2TV, aired images of Suale and called for retribution against him. This broadcast led to Suale identifying Koranteng as the individual who supplied these images to Agyapong.

Tragically, on January 16, 2019, following the airing of Suale’s photographs, he was shot and killed in Madina. Evidence presented in court revealed that call records linked Koranteng to the vicinity of Suale’s residence at the time of the murder. Investigators also discovered that Koranteng returned to Amasaman shortly after the incident. After initially declining to cooperate with police investigations, he absconded to the United Kingdom but returned to Ghana, where he was arrested in Amasaman on March 15, 2023.

Daniel Owusu Koranteng has been remanded in custody as he faces murder charges related to the death of Ahmed Suale. Significant evidence ties him to the scene of the crime, while the case continues to unfold as authorities pursue additional suspects. The next court date is set for April 1, 2025, where further developments are anticipated in this ongoing investigation.
