In 2024, station wagons lead vehicle thefts in Kenya at 67.80%, followed by lorries (11.46%), saloons (6.81%), and pickups (3.72%). White is the most stolen vehicle color (39.80%), and Toyotas constitute 54.91% of all stolen vehicles.

In Kenya, the latest statistics released by the Association of Kenya Insurers reveal that station wagons are the most commonly stolen vehicles in the country for the year 2024. They constitute an alarming 67.80% of reported theft cases. The data indicates that lorries are the second most stolen category, accounting for 11.46% of thefts, while saloons and pickups follow, representing 6.81% and 3.72%, respectively. Other vehicle types make up the remaining 10.22% of theft incidents.

Regarding the color of stolen vehicles, white continues to be the predominant target, with 39.80% of thefts involving white vehicles. Silver vehicles also see significant theft rates, comprising 16.72% of the total, followed by black vehicles at 15.38%. Notably, a substantial 54.91% of all stolen vehicles in 2024 were Toyotas, illustrating a strong preference among thieves for this particular brand. Silver vehicles rank as the second most frequently stolen vehicles, reinforcing the trend in color preferences among thieves.
