SGA 2025 Election Results and Leadership Priorities Announced

The SGA announced the 2025 election results, highlighting Faith Geistweidt as the uncontested student body president and Crispus Ankomah as graduate vice president. Geistweidt aims to promote transparency and effective communication, while challenges in senator retention will be addressed by her newly elected team. The official term begins on May 1 with a diverse array of senators elected from various colleges.
The Student Government Association (SGA) announced its election results for the 2025 session during a live stream on Thursday, following Texas Tech’s closure the previous day. Crispus Ankomah, a graduate student from Ghana pursuing a master’s degree in history, secured victory in the sole contested executive race for graduate vice president. Meanwhile, Faith Geistweidt, a junior majoring in agriculture and applied economics from Fredericksburg, ran uncontested to become the student body president for the 61st session.
In her inaugural remarks, Geistweidt emphasized that a primary focus of her presidency will be to enhance transparency between the SGA and the student body. She aims to utilize social media to effectively communicate the activities and initiatives undertaken by the SGA, thus ensuring that students are well informed.
Geistweidt stated, “Being able to tell students what Student Government Association is doing — whether that’s the Student Senate or on the executive side — and the wonderful things that we’re working on on a day-to-day basis, I think, is really important for students to know.” Furthermore, with concerns regarding senator retention and recruitment, she indicated that Internal Vice President-elect Madeline Clark will prioritize these challenges, ensuring that the student senate remains engaged with their peers.
Geistweidt also hinted at the potential introduction of incentives for student senators, which could include benefits like early class registration or scholarships. She stated, “I think it all boils down to transparency,” emphasizing that the student body must be aware of SGA’s contributions and legislation that directly impact their experience.
Officially, Geistweidt and her team will commence their term on May 1. Other elected executive members include Jackson Bentley as External Vice President and Madeline Clark as Internal Vice President. Additionally, the detailed results of the elected senators from various colleges are as follows:
