Tim Maley, Ms. Byrne’s brother, noted that their passports would be returned shortly, allowing them to board their flight back to the UK. The authorities had previously confiscated their passports during a police raid, prompting the couple to sell their villa to address legal costs.
Although their situation has improved, Mr. Maley indicated that the couple remains anxious about their journey back home. “They are very nervous and won’t be popping any champagne corks yet,” he remarked.
