During the recent “Cartas na Mesa” broadcast on Radio Mozambique, Minister of Health Ussene Isse revealed that there are currently five hundred foreign medical specialists working in the country. This step is part of the effort to enhance healthcare quality in Mozambique.
Furthermore, Minister Isse announced the introduction of an electronic tracking mechanism for medicine distribution in hospitals. This initiative aims to combat the diversion of drugs and ensure that state-purchased medicines properly reach healthcare facilities, as there is no reasonable justification for any discrepancies in medicine distribution.
The Ministry of Health in Mozambique is actively working to mitigate the shortage of medical specialists through accelerated training abroad. In addition, the introduction of an electronic tracking system for medicine distribution is expected to address issues of drug diversion in hospitals, ensuring that state resources are effectively utilized for public health needs.
