Silver Box has acquired Mobius Motors Kenya, aiming to strengthen operations and expand market presence. Plans include resuming full manufacturing by July 2025 and launching a new SUV in December 2025. Leadership transitions include John Kavila as COO, succeeding Nicolas Guibert, who expressed optimism for the brand’s future.

Mobius Motors Kenya, the first motor vehicle manufacturer in the country, has recently been acquired by Silver Box, a business investment and technology firm from the Middle East. This acquisition aims to stabilize and enhance Mobius’s operations following years of investments within the Kenyan automotive industry, particularly focusing on scaling production and maintaining market competitiveness.

Founded 14 years ago with an estimated investment of KES 5 billion, Mobius Motors has experienced difficulties in production scaling. Silver Box has announced plans to resume full manufacturing by July 2025 for the Mobius 3 Model, alongside the expected launch of a new off-road SUV in December 2025. Additionally, Mobius has reopened its service center to better serve customers.

Leadership changes occurred post-acquisition, with John Kavila appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Kavila brings expertise in manufacturing, operations, and customer service, and will be pivotal in guiding the company’s strategic direction. He succeeds outgoing CEO Nicolas Guibert, who expressed strong confidence in Silver Box’s potential to expand market share, introduce new models, and enhance service networks.

Guibert, having led Mobius Motors for five years, acknowledged the company’s struggles with scaling production and expanding its customer base. He remains optimistic that this transition in ownership will effectively address such challenges. With Silver Box at the helm, the future of Mobius Motors relies on the new leadership’s ability to execute plans aimed at bolstering production and enhancing market presence.

The recent acquisition of Mobius Motors Kenya by Silver Box represents a significant shift aimed at revitalizing the company’s operations and expanding its market reach. With new leadership under John Kavila and plans to enhance production and launch new models, the future of Mobius Motors appears promising. The company’s resilience in the Kenyan automotive sector will ultimately depend on the successful execution of these strategies.
