The police have identified Fernando Teles Pereira, a 37-year-old Brazilian man, as the suspect in the case, wanted for Centeno’s murder which reportedly occurred on February 20 in Diamond, East Bank Demerara. His known addresses include locations in both Guyana and Brazil. Centeno’s disappearance came as a shock to her family, particularly her mother, Yuhengris Gerdez, who stated that Centeno maintained regular communication regarding her plans.
On the fateful day, Centeno was last seen around 9:30 AM, boarding the suspect’s truck after finishing her shift at a bar in Eccles, East Bank Demerara. It had become customary for her to stay at a friend’s house for the night after work. She had been waiting for transport that morning when the truck approached, and she has not been heard from since.
Investigative efforts continue as the family awaits the DNA results, with indications that the remains found share similarities with Centeno, such as dental braces. Additionally, physical items, including a chain and earrings that belonged to Centeno, were also discovered at the site.
