According to local sources, the kidnappers intercepted the boat carrying Akari and others. They forcibly removed him from his vessel and attempted to flee. However, their escape was hindered when the engine of their boat malfunctioned, leading them to paddle to the riverbank and subsequently flee into the surrounding bush with the victim.
Security forces, including police personnel, have initiated a search operation for Mr. Loveday in the vicinity. A source shared that there was a significant police presence in the area, with officers conducting stop-and-search activities.
When contacted for verification, Mr. Musa Mohammed, the spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, expressed his unawareness of the situation and did not provide any additional information.
