Citizens enjoy free healthcare, education, and housing. The rulers adopt a socially responsible approach to wealth distribution, while navigating the challenges of rapid development.

The UAE gained independence in 1971, having previously been a British protectorate. The political structure includes a president, currently His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi, and a vice president from Dubai. The Federal National Council (FNC) offers a semblance of democratic process, with members appointed from each emirate and some elected, reflecting an evolving system.

Women have made significant advancements in the UAE, comprising 23 percent of the FNC. Najla Al Awadhi, a prominent female figure, emphasized the need to challenge stereotypes about Muslim women. “Muslims cannot be lumped into one basket.
