Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited has initiated the local assembly of the Peugeot 3008 GT, enhancing its production capabilities and commitment to local manufacturing. This development marks a notable expansion in Nigeria’s automotive sector, building on DPAN’s previous successes with various Peugeot models and fostering economic growth in the region.

Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited (DPAN) has launched the local assembly of the GT model of the Peugeot 3008, enhancing its product lineup and reinforcing its dedication to increasing local automobile production in Nigeria. This advancement is part of DPAN’s broader commitment to support the automotive sector and stimulate the economy.

The Peugeot 3008 GT is a notable SUV celebrated for its exceptional design and performance, equipped with a 1.6-liter turbo engine. Assembly activities are conducted at DPAN’s modern facility located in Kaduna, which aims to further establish Nigeria’s presence within the global automotive manufacturing landscape.

The initiative follows the assembly of the 3008 model in Africa, which occurred in Ghana in 2022, facilitated by a collaboration among Citroën, Peugeot, and Silver Star Auto. This partnership, which commenced in 2019, was intended to broaden Peugeot’s influence across the African continent.

DPAN initially reintroduced Peugeot’s brand to Nigeria by assembling the Peugeot 301 model at its Kaduna location. Subsequently, the company has broadened its offerings to include various models such as the Landtrek pickup, Peugeot 3008, 5008, and the latest 508 version, thus expanding its local manufacturing portfolio.

Dangote’s involvement in Nigeria’s automotive sector began in 2016, when his conglomerate, alongside the Kaduna State Government and the Bank of Industry, acquired a controlling interest in Peugeot Automobile. By 2017, he obtained a license to establish an assembly plant, culminating in the official launch of DPAN’s operations in 2022.

The assembly of the Peugeot 3008 GT by Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited signifies a significant advancement in Nigeria’s automotive manufacturing sector, reinforcing the country’s potential within this industry. With the expansion of various models and a commitment to local production, DPAN is poised to play a pivotal role in the growth of Nigeria’s automotive landscape.
