Four Lesotho nationals were arrested for the killing of Constable Justice Sephooa in Free State, South Africa. They were apprehended after an extensive investigation by a multidisciplinary team. The arrests were executed by a multidisciplinary team that included the Hawks’ serious organized crime unit, the North West Tactical Response Team (TRT), and the National Intervention Unit (NIU). Following an extensive investigation, the suspects were located and detained in Stilfontein, North West, before being transferred to Bethlehem.
On January 21, two unidentified individuals attacked Sephooa at his residence, with one of them firing two shots before fleeing the scene. All four suspects will face murder charges in the Ficksburg Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. Colonel Mogale noted the collaborative effort in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
In a related incident, four individuals have been arrested for the alleged murder of Constables Sipho Mohapi and Gedione Motloung, also from Free State. The officers were shot while responding to a house robbery on January 4 in Phuthaditjhaba. Marasane Kabelo Anmony, a South African, was arrested on January 16, and faces charges of murder and robbery.
Moreover, Pakiso Lethako, aged 32 and a Lesotho national, was detained on January 15, followed by his alleged accomplice, Lakaje Piet Thetha, who was captured two days later. The investigations continue as law enforcement seeks to ensure justice for the fallen officers.
