Since the beginning of this year, law enforcement has recorded 28 cases of Hong Kong residents feeling trapped in these regions, with 16 individuals having successfully returned to the city thus far. The remaining 12 individuals have reported being confined, although they are safe and have maintained communication with their families and local authorities. Notably, Wang Xing, who went missing upon his arrival in Thailand on January 3, was rescued from a scam operation after Thai authorities identified him as a victim of human trafficking. He was repatriated to mainland China last Friday, marking a critical point of concern for the authorities in Hong Kong regarding the safety of their residents abroad.
